I’m Under Spiritual Attack: How to Recognize the Enemy and Fight Back

Have you ever had a week where everything just goes wrong? Your car breaks down, your bank account is drained, your family is fighting, and a heavy cloud of anxiety settles over your mind. You think it’s just bad luck. But then, the Holy Spirit whispers to your spirit: “Wait a minute. You are under spiritual attack.”
As believers, we often don’t realize we are in a spiritual battle until we are knee-deep in it. The enemy wants us to think his attacks are just “normal life.” But the moment you recognize the attack, everything changes. The question is: Will you linger in the defeat, or will you seek the Lord who has the power to stop it?
THE DELAY IN RECOGNITION
The enemy’s greatest trick isn’t just the attack itself; it’s the delay in our realization. He wants us to be reactive instead of proactive. He wants us to complain, to worry, and to accept the defeat as our new normal. But 2 Corinthians 2:11 warns us: “so that no advantage would be taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his devices.” We cannot be ignorant. We must be watchful.
THE STORY OF JOB & THE WISDOM OF ELIHU
Look at the story of Job. Job was under a massive, coordinated spiritual attack. The enemy was trying to break him. But look at Job’s initial response, and look at his three older friends—Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar. They all got it wrong. They thought the attack was just punishment for secret sin. They lingered in a mindset of condemnation and defeat.
But then, there was the young man, Elihu. He waited, he listened, and when he finally spoke, he got it right. Elihu recognized that God was in the fire. He understood that the attack had a purpose, that God was refining Job, and that the enemy was overstepping his bounds. Elihu didn’t just complain; he exalted God’s sovereignty and justice. When you are under attack, you need the wisdom of Elihu. You need to stop looking at the size of the storm and start looking at the sovereignty of your God.
THE BATTLE PLAN: SUBMIT, THEN RESIST
James 4:7 gives us the ultimate battle plan: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Notice the order. You cannot resist the devil if you are not submitted to God. When you feel the heavy hand of the enemy on your life, stop lingering. Do not accept the defeat. Submit your heart, your mind, and your circumstances to the Lord. Then, take authority in the name of Jesus. The enemy is a defeated foe, and he only has the power you give him.

If you do not have the armor of God, if you have never been born again, you are fighting this battle without a shield. The ultimate attack is on your eternal soul. Do not wait. Secure your eternity today.

- B — BELIEVE Jesus Died and Rose (Romans 5:8)
- C — CONFESS Him as Lord (Romans 10:9)
Pray this from your heart: “Lord Jesus, I admit I’m a sinner. I believe You died for me and rose again. I confess You as my Lord and Savior. Write my name in the Lamb’s Book of Life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
5-MINUTE ACTIVATION: FIGHTING BACK
Take 5 minutes today to recognize the attack and take authority in Christ.
Step 1: READ Ephesians 6:11-12 & James 4:7 (60 sec)
Read these verses aloud. Declare that you are not ignorant of the enemy’s devices and that you are putting on the full armor of God.
Step 2: PRAY (90 sec)
“Lord, I submit myself to You right now. I recognize that I am under spiritual attack, and I refuse to linger in defeat. In the name of Jesus, I resist the devil and every assignment of the enemy against my life, my family, and my mind. I put on the full armor of God. Maranatha. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
Step 3: ACT (60 sec)
Write down the specific area where you feel the attack (finances, health, mind). Next to it, write a specific Scripture that contradicts the enemy’s lie. Speak that Scripture out loud three times.
⏱️ Total time: 5 minutes. 🔥 Result: Alert. Armed. Victorious.
Watchmen, stop lingering in the attack. Recognize the enemy’s devices, submit to God, and resist the devil. He will flee from you. Keep your eyes on the King.
