The Jerusalem Question: How Will Saudi Arabia and Israel Ever Agree?

Friends and Bible study group, I must be honest, other than not knowing the day or the hour for the rapture of the church, the next big mystery is when will Jerusalem be divided? That might be something that only God knows. Will the church be here to see it, or will it happen after we removed? And that’s the question that we’re going to explore today. Let’s talk about the sticking point that has paralyzed Middle East diplomacy for decades.

Saudi Arabia wants a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Israel will not divide Jerusalem. Humanly speaking, it’s an impossible deadlock.
But here’s what keeps me up at night: The Bible says they will agree.
Daniel 9:27 is clear. A covenant will be confirmed. “Peace and safety” will be declared. The stage will be set for the seven-year tribulation.
The question isn’t if. The question is: How and when?
Will the church witness this breakthrough before we’re removed? Or will the rapture happen first, clearing the way for the “great horn” to broker the impossible?
That’s the mystery. And I’m not here to solve it. I’m here to help you watch it.
SECTION 1: THE HUMAN IMPASSE
Let’s name the elephant in the room.
Saudi Arabia has made it clear: normalization with Israel requires a credible, irreversible pathway to a Palestinian state. Jerusalem must be shared.
Israel’s position is equally firm: Jerusalem is the eternal, undivided capital. No foreign power will dictate its status.
Add to this the U.S. pressure, regional elections, Gaza tensions, and decades of broken promises. Human diplomacy hits a wall. Every time.
But prophecy doesn’t care about political stalemates. It cares about divine timing.
SECTION 2: THE BIBLICAL CERTAINTY
Scripture gives us three non-negotiable markers:
- 📜 Daniel 9:27 — “He shall confirm the covenant with many for one week.” A formal agreement involving Israel and multiple nations will be ratified.
- 🕊️ 1 Thessalonians 5:3 — “When they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them.” The world will declare stability. Not achieve it. Declare it.
- 🦅 Daniel 7-8 / Isaiah 10 — The “little horn” / “great horn” will arise, broker the deal, and stand in the holy place. Human impossibility becomes prophetic reality through supernatural deception.
God’s land promise to Israel is eternal. No human treaty can override it. But the Antichrist won’t need to override it. He’ll exploit it. Through miracle, coercion, or AI-mediated “shared sovereignty,” he’ll present a solution so convincing the world will embrace it.
That’s how the impossible becomes possible.
SECTION 3: THE MYSTERY — BEFORE OR AFTER THE RAPTURE?
This is where many stumble into speculation. Let’s hold the tension with biblical humility.
Scenario A: The Rapture Precedes the Agreement
The church is removed. The Restrainer (2 Thessalonians 2:6-7) is taken out of the way. The Antichrist rises rapidly, brokers the “impossible” deal, and confirms Daniel 9:27. The tribulation begins. The church watches from glory.
Scenario B: The Agreement Precedes the Rapture
A temporary, symbolic, or internationally overseen “Palestinian framework” is declared to satisfy diplomatic demands. Israel “agrees” under extreme pressure. The world shouts “Peace and safety.” The rapture follows shortly after, or the tribulation begins immediately.
Which is it? We don’t know. And that’s okay.
Jesus didn’t give us a timeline. He gave us a command: “Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” (Matthew 24:42)
Whether the deal happens before or after we’re caught up, our calling remains the same: Hold fast. Don’t be deceived. Prepare the bride.

Commit to holding fast to Christ, not political hope. To watching the signs, not chasing timelines. To being ready until He comes.
