Why Christ’s Active Judgment During Tribulation Changes Everything We Watch For

By David Brooks | Founder and CEO of Divine Timing Ministries

“I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury…” Isaiah 63:3, KJV

Editor’s Note: Bonus paralell about this in the podcast. You can watch here 👇

Friends, today we’re going deep. This isn’t for everybody. But if you’re hungry for Scripture, if you’re watching the signs, if you’re asking ‘What is Jesus doing RIGHT NOW in heaven?’—this study is for you.

We’re exploring Isaiah 63:3: ‘I have trodden the winepress alone.’ Most see this as the Cross or the Second Coming. But what if it’s also the Tribulation? What if Jesus isn’t passive during the seven years—but actively executing judgment from heaven AND on the earth?

This changes how we watch. This deepens our awe. This intensifies our urgency.
Let’s begin.

Most teachers see this verse as: ✅ The Cross (redemption) ✅ OR the Second Coming (final judgment)

But what if it’s BOTH—and also the Tribulation?

What if Jesus isn’t passive during the seven years? What if the Lamb is actively executing judgment from heaven and on the earth? What if the Beast prepares to fight the Lamb because the Lamb is already at war?

This isn’t speculation. This is Scripture. And it changes how we watch.

**SECTION 1: The Traditional Views **(And Why They’re Incomplete)

View

Application

Strengths

Gaps

Cross-Centered

Jesus’ atoning sacrifice

Blood on garments = redemption; “alone” = no one could help bear sin

Doesn’t explain progressive “treading in anger/fury” language

Second Coming

Revelation 19:11-15 fulfillment

Direct quote in Rev 14:19-20; winepress imagery matches

Doesn’t explain why Beast prepares to fight before Revelation 19

Progressive Judgment

Tribulation seals/trumpets/bowls

Fits “already/not yet” pattern; explains Beast’s defensive posture

Less commonly taught; requires careful handling

Key insight: Scripture often has layered fulfillment. Isaiah 53 points to the Cross and Israel’s future healing. Isaiah 63:3 may point to redemption and progressive judgment and final consummation.

**SECTION 2: The Lamb Is Already Judging **(Revelation 6-14)

Revelation 6:1: “And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals…”

  • The Lamb isn’t absent—He’s initiating judgment from heaven

Revelation 14:14-20: The Son of Man reaps the earth

  • “And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man…”
  • He wields a sharp sickle—active harvest of judgment
  • This happens BEFORE Armageddon (Revelation 19)

Revelation 14:19-20: The winepress trodden

  • “And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth… and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.”
  • Blood flows 1,600 furlongs—massive, progressive judgment
  • This IS Isaiah 63:3 in motion—before the final return

The pattern: Jesus begins executing judgment at the start of Tribulation (seals) → intensifies through trumpets and bowls → culminates in Revelation 19:11-15 (final fulfillment of Isaiah 63:3)

SECTION 3: Why Would the Beast Prepare to Fight the Lamb?

You asked the critical question: “Why else would the man of sin prepare his armies to fight the Lamb if He has not already been active?”

Revelation 17:14: “These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them…”Revelation 19:19: “And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse…”

Key observation: ✅ The Beast doesn’t prepare for a future threat—he prepares against an active opponent ✅ This implies the Lamb has already been executing judgment ✅ The Tribulation isn’t passive waiting—it’s progressive confrontation

SECTION 4: “I Was Alone” – The Mystery of Divine Solitude

“I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me…” (Isaiah 63:3)

What does “alone” mean?

Not abandonment—the Father and Spirit are one with the Son (John 10:30) ✅ Not isolation—angels serve Him (Hebrews 1:14) ✅ But uniqueness: No human, no nation, no angel could execute this judgment ✅ Sovereign solitude: Only the Lamb is worthy to open the seals (Revelation 5:5)

Applied to Tribulation: ✅ Jesus judges from heaven—not yet physically on earth ✅ His judgment is sovereign, supernatural, solitary in authority ✅ No human army, no angelic host could accomplish what He alone does

SECTION 5: God as “Man of War” – Unchanging Nature

“The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.” (Exodus 15:3, KJV)

✅ This isn’t just Old Testament—God’s nature doesn’t change (Malachi 3:6) ✅ Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15) ✅ The same God who fought for Israel at the Red Sea fights for His people in Tribulation

The continuity: ✅ Exodus: God battles Egypt to liberate Israel ✅ Revelation: God battles the beast to liberate creation ✅ Same Warrior. Same Word. Same victory.

⚠️ IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION: What This Is NOT

NOT date-setting—we don’t know when Tribulation begins ✅ NOT replacing the Gospel—salvation is still by grace through faith ✅ NOT sensationalism—this is careful, Scripture-first analysis ✅ NOT diminishing the Cross—Isaiah 63:3’s redemption aspect remains central

This IS: ✅ Deeper understanding of prophetic patterns ✅ Urgency for readiness (Rapture BEFORE man of sin revealed) ✅ Awe for Christ’s sovereignty in judgment AND mercy

⏰ THE URGENCY: Your Phase 3 Is Death or the Rapture

If Jesus is already executing judgment from heaven:

The window for repentance is narrowingThe Rapture happens BEFORE the man of sin is revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:7) ✅ Your Phase 3 is death or the Rapture—whichever comes first

Don’t wait. Don’t delay. Don’t put off salvation for “someday.”

🙏 THE ABCs OF SALVATION – How to Be Saved

A – Admit you are a sinner in need of a Savior. “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

B – Believe Jesus died for your sins and rose again. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

C – Confess Him as Lord and turn from sin. “Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.” (Acts 3:19)

👉 Pray now: “Lord Jesus, I admit I’m a sinner. I believe You died and rose for me. I confess You as my Lord. Save me, cleanse me, and make me Yours forever. Amen.”

Once you pray, you’re sealed. Not by your promise to God. By God’s promise to you.
