Proverbs 15: The Watchman’s Survival Manual for a Toxic World
“Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the Lord, How much more the hearts of mankind!” — Proverbs 15:11 (NASB)
🎧 AUDIO NARRATION: THE VOICE OF SOLOMON
Listen to King Solomon speak directly to the inhabitants of the Earth in 2026.
Watchmen, there is no shortage on the menu today. God has a lot of work for us to do, and He has handed us a survival manual. In Proverbs chapter 15, King Solomon is not just giving gentle advice; he is firing a machine gun of wisdom directly at the toxic culture of 2026. Every single verse is a silver bullet. Let’s look at the hot buttons of our day through the lens of ancient, divine truth.
THE TOXICITY OF THE MODERN AGE (VERSES 1-2, 12)
Verse 1 tells us: “A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.” Look at our world today. I see it on the mainstream media, and I see it even more on social media. Everyone is shouting, everyone is angry, and the harsh words are stirring up global anger.
Verse 2 says, “The tongue of the wise makes knowledge pleasant, But the mouth of fools spouts foolishness.” And what happens when we try to correct the culture? Verse 12 gives us the exact blueprint of the modern internet troll: “A scoffer does not love one who rebukes him; He will not go to the wise.” When you try to speak truth to a scoffer on social media, they don’t just reject it; they attack you. We must guard our hearts, because as Proverbs 4:23 reminds us, it is the wellspring of life.
THE WATCHMAN’S DUTY & THE MODERN ALTAR (VERSES 7-9)
Verse 7 says, “The lips of the wise spread knowledge, But the hearts of fools are not so.” You and I, as the Divine Timing family, are called to be verse 7. We are to spread knowledge in a world of fools.
But then Solomon drops a chilling hammer in verse 8: “The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But the prayer of the upright is His delight.” When I read “the sacrifice of the wicked,” my mind immediately goes to the modern altars of our culture—specifically, the tragedy of abortion. The shedding of innocent blood is an abomination to the Lord. But in the midst of that darkness, verse 9 gives us our goal: “The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But He loves the one who pursues righteousness.” That is our mandate.
️ THE CHILLING REALITY OF SHEOL (VERSE 11)
Verse 11 is a terrifying reminder of what we just studied in Revelation chapter 20. “Sheol and Abaddon lie open before the Lord, How much more the hearts of mankind!”
Hell is not a myth. The lake of fire is a reality. The Great White Throne Judgment is coming. The Lord sees everything, and the stakes for human souls are infinitely high. This is exactly why we give the ABCs of Salvation in every single article. We do not want anyone to appear at that judgment.
A BROKEN SPIRIT RESCUED (VERSE 13)
Verse 13 says, “A joyful heart makes a cheerful face, But when the heart is sad, the spirit is broken.”
I want to get personal with you for a moment. I have definitely had my share of disappointments in life. I have had my spirit broken to the point where I absolutely needed God’s help, and He rescued me. My parents, the last ones I cared for so deeply on this earth, are now with the Lord. There was a season where my spirit was crushed under the weight of grief and the evil of this world.
But the Lord pulled me out. I am just fine at this point in my life. I still encounter setbacks, but nothing crushes my spirit anymore. My focus is entirely on serving God. I do take care of myself, but I always try to put God first. It is a constant struggle, but I know the Lord will win. If your spirit is broken today, cry out to Him. He is the rescuer of the brokenhearted.
THE CONTINUAL FEAST & THE MACHINE GUN OF WISDOM (VERSES 15, 27, 33)
Verse 15 gives us the antidote to a toxic world: “All the days of the needy are bad, But a cheerful heart has a continual feast.” You don’t need the world’s approval to have a feast; you just need the joy of the Lord.
Solomon keeps firing. Verse 27 warns us about greed and corruption: “He who profits illicitly troubles his own house.” Look at the political and corporate greed of 2026! And it all culminates in verse 33: “The fear of the Lord is the instruction for wisdom, And before honor comes humility.”
