🎧 LISTEN NOW: BIBLE STORIES BY LEGENDS – AMY GRANT

Amy Grant shares the biblical inspiration and personal story behind the iconic song “El Shaddai.”

🎧 He is the All-Sufficient One. He is more than enough.

Friends and Bible Study Group of Divine Timing, welcome to a very special episode of our new series: “Bible Stories by Legends.”

As many of you know, I am currently on a 30-day vacation in Thailand. The Lord has allowed me to rest, recharge, and spend time in His creation. But the ministry doesn’t stop, and the Word of God doesn’t take a vacation!

So, I asked a very special guest to fill in for me today. The legendary Amy Grant is here to share the deeply personal and biblical inspiration behind one of the most iconic songs in Christian music history: “El Shaddai.”

THE STORY BEHIND THE SONG

Back in 1981, a dear friend of Amy’s named Michael Card, along with John Thompson, brought her a song that would end up changing the trajectory of her life and ministry. The song was El Shaddai.

When Amy first heard the lyrics, she was immediately transported back to the book of Genesis, chapter 17. Abram was ninety-nine years old. From a human perspective, his window of opportunity had completely closed. He and Sarah were far too old to have a child. The promises God had given him seemed like they were fading into the dust of time.

THE BIBLICAL FOUNDATION: EL SHADDAI

But then, the Lord appeared to him. And in that moment, God didn’t just give him a new promise. He gave him a new revelation of who He was. God said, “I am El Shaddai.”

El Shaddai. It is one of the most profound names of the Creator. It translates to God Almighty, but it carries an even richer meaning. It means The All-Sufficient One. The God who is more than enough. The God who has all power, all grace, and all ability to do what we cannot do.

The lyrics trace the beautiful story of God’s faithfulness. From the ram in the thicket for Abraham, to leading the children of Israel out of Egypt, all the way to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. It is one continuous, unbroken thread of an All-Sufficient God who refuses to let His people go.

THE UNCHANGING GOD IN THE END TIMES

People often ask why that song has resonated for so many decades. I think it is because, deep down, we all have moments where we look at our circumstances and say, “Lord, this is impossible.”

As we watch the world shake, as we study the deep prophecies of Revelation, and as we see the Beast system rising, we need to remember this name more than ever. The nations may rage, the kings of the earth may set themselves against the Lord, but He who sits in the heavens shall laugh. He is El Shaddai. He is entirely sufficient to protect His remnant, to fulfill every single prophecy, and to bring His Kingdom to pass.

Whatever giant you are facing today, bring it to El Shaddai. He is the God of the impossible.

But before we do this activation, we need to address the most important thing. You cannot dedicate your life to the True King if you don’t belong to Him yet. The church age is closing soon, and we are going to be raptured, taken up. I want you to go with us!

If you are not saved, having a born-again experience is super easy. Don’t waste another second. Take care of this first, and then do the activation below.

⚑ THE ABCs OF SALVATION

βœ… A β€” ADMIT You’re a Sinner

Acknowledge that you have fallen short of God’s glory. You cannot save yourself.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

βœ… B β€” BELIEVE in Jesus Christ

Believe that Jesus died for your sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. He is the only way to the Father.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

βœ… C β€” CALL Out to Him

Call upon the name of the Lord. Surrender your life to Him and ask Him to save you.

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

πŸ™ Pray this from your heart. Right where you are:

“Lord Jesus, I admit I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I call upon Your name to save me. I surrender my life to You. Thank you for saving me. Amen.”

✨ If you prayed that, congratulations.
You didn’t earn it. You received it.
You’re SAVED AND SEALED. (Ephesians 1:13)
